Nishikiori Takeshi

Nishikiori Takeshi, born January 1960 in Izumo City of Shimane Prefecture, is one of Japan's foremost tenor singers. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in vocal music, he became active in the opera world and received numerous awards including the Jiro Opera New Artist Prize, the Idemitsu Music Award, the Goto Memorial Cultural Foundation Newcomer Award, and the Mobil Music Award Encouragement Prize, in addition to appearing on NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2000 and 2003. In anime music he delivered an operatic performance on 'Ano Sora wo, Yuke,' the opening theme for 'Tytania' (lyrics and composition by Hideaki Takatori, arrangement by Yo Takagi), lending solemn resonance to Yoshiki Tanaka's grand space opera. He also performed 'Mikansei Kyousoukyoku,' the opening of the 1996 TV anime 'Violinist of Hameln.'
