Santara
Artist
Santara is a two-member music unit consisting of Kyoko Tamura (vocals, harp, guitar) and Kazutoshi Sunada (guitar, vocals). Formed in Kyoto in 1999, the unit's name means 'citrus' in Hindi, and they made their major debut with the single 'Vanilla' in 2004. Based in an acoustic sound yet with an edgy individuality that sets them apart from stereotypical mixed-gender units, they handled theme songs for ambitious works by director Masaaki Yuasa on multiple occasions for anime: the ending 'Suki' for 'Kemonozume' and 'Oh! Edo Rocket''s ending '100miles ~Niji wo Oikakete,' plus 'Omoisugoshi no Kounou,' the ending for the art mystery 'Gallery Fake.' With a distinctive musicality where Tamura and Sunada handle songwriting, they have colored the endings of a range of idiosyncratic works.
