Hoshimura Mai is a female singer-songwriter and pianist from Matsue, Shimane. She studied classical piano from age four and began composing in earnest in her late teens, establishing a style of writing both her own lyrics and music. Her hallmark is a clear voice over piano-centered arrangements. For the 2007 anime 'Hero Tales' she performed the ending theme 'Kakegae no Nai Hito e,' writing and composing it herself with arrangement by Daichi Hideyuki Suzuki, giving this Chinese-flavored fantasy a firm, lyrical ballad as its close. Through singles and albums and a focus on live performance, she has sustained a long career as a singer-songwriter.
