Izumi Katou

Izumi Katou is a singer-songwriter from Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. She made her major debut with an album on Pony Canyon in 1991, and her 1993 single 'Suki ni Natte, Yokatta' became a hit as an insert song for a Fuji TV drama, making her one of the representative artists of the GiRLPOP movement. In anime, she performed 'Kotoba', an ending theme for the TV anime 'We Were There'. The ballad was written, composed, and arranged by Ken Takahashi, who had long supplied her with songs, and is known as one of the most memorable among the show's rotating ending themes. Alongside her solo work, she has continued to broaden her range, performing backing vocals on tours and live shows for artists such as Kazumasa Oda and Yumi Matsutoya.
