SOPHIA is a Japanese rock band formed in 1994 that made its major debut in 1995 on Toy's Factory. Centered on vocalist Mitsuru Matsuoka and rounded out by Kazutaka Toyoda, Yoshio Kuroyanagi, Yoshitomo Akamatsu, and Keiichi Miyako, the band has built a long career on melodic, pop-oriented songwriting and a powerful band sound. They succeeded in headlining the Nippon Budokan only a few years after debuting and have produced numerous hits such as 'Machi', 'Kuroi Boots ~oh my friend~', and 'Beautiful'. In anime, they performed '-Boku wa Koko ni Iru-', the ending theme of the TV anime 'Kaleido Star'. Written and composed by Matsuoka himself, the song's grand synthesizer-driven sound, delicate lyrics, and strong vocals left a deep emotional resonance over this story of chasing a dream.
