YKZ is a Japanese mixture/instrumental rock band. Centering on rock while freely incorporating jazz, hip-hop and funk, they wield tight ensemble work driven by aggressive slap bass, sharp-edged guitar cutting, funky drums and rapped vocals. They have released multiple works on Sony-affiliated labels. 'R.O.D', the opening theme of the TV anime 'R.O.D -THE TV-', is an instrumental number composed and arranged by member bassist Hideki Tanaka, driving the adventures of the book-loving paper-master sisters with stylish, urban sound and razor-sharp attack, and stands as a fine opening.
