Nujabes (real name Jun Seba, written 瀬葉淳) is a Japanese hip-hop producer / DJ revered worldwide for his jazzy, lyrical beatmaking. As a symbolic figure of the lo-fi hip-hop current, he continues to wield strong influence at home and abroad even after his death. Shing02 is a lyrical bilingual rapper, in Japanese and English, who brings a social perspective to his work. Their collaboration 'battlecry' was produced as the opening theme of the chanbara hip-hop period drama 'Samurai Champloo', directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, and, with sharp rapping riding on a beautiful sample-heavy track, it has become virtually synonymous with the show.
