2am is a mixed-gender unit formed by Hiroyuki Miyasako and Naomi Amakata. Produced by Tetsuya Komuro, they are built around a sound that fuses electro with rock. On the anime front, they performed 'enemy of life', the opening theme, and 'self control 2004', the ending theme, of the TV anime Zoids Fuzors, based on Takara's (now Takara Tomy) Zoids series. Both songs were written, composed, and arranged by Tetsuya Komuro. On 'enemy of life', Miyasako takes lead vocals, while on 'self control 2004', Amakata takes the lead with Miyasako contributing rap. With their sharp, speed-filled sound, they added color to this battle action in which giant mechanical beasts, the Zoids, clash.
