"My Dress-Up Darling" is based on the manga by Shinichi Fukuda, serialized in Square Enix's "Young Gangan" and "Manga UP!," with over 12 million copies in print across the series. The youthful love story follows Wakana Gojo, a high schooler aspiring to become a hina doll craftsman, and Marin Kitagawa, a gyaru who dreams of cosplaying, as they grow closer through making cosplay costumes together. Season 1 aired in January 2022 to great acclaim.
Directed by Keisuke Shinohara, series composition and scripts by Yoriko Tomita, character design and chief animation direction by Kazumasa Ishida, animation production by CloverWorks.
