The TV anime adaptation of "Hotaru no Yomeiri" (Firefly's Marriage), a popular manga by Oreko Tachibana serialized on Shogakukan's "Sunday Webry," has been announced. It will air on Fuji Television's "noitaminA" programming block nationwide starting October 2026.

Set during the Meiji era as Japan modernizes, the story follows the forbidden love between Satoko Kirigaya, a beautiful countess from a prestigious family with only a short time to live, and Shinpei Goto, an assassin who adores her obsessively. The manga won the Grand Prize at the Digital Comic Awards 2024 and has surpassed 200 million total views.

The teaser visual depicts Shinpei, stained with blood yet gazing lovingly at Satoko, accompanied by the tagline "My love might be a bit heavy, but I'll make you happy" and "A mad love story of an obsessive assassin and a noblewoman with little time left."
