Based on the manga by Nekoko (scenario) and Nitaka Hajime (composition/line art) from Shogakukan's SEED COMICS imprint, the story follows Riddle, a young man who lost both his companions and the world itself at the hands of those who plotted its destruction, known as the "Box of Malice." Having lost all hope, he finds one final spark of inspiration at the brink of despair. After surviving for 1,000 years, he finally achieves time reversal. Armed with a millennium's worth of knowledge and experience in a young body, the Great Sage Riddle's journey to save the world begins anew.
Animation production is handled by Imagica Infos/Imageworks Studio, utilizing Dai Nippon Printing's proprietary "Light Anime" production method. This marks the first collaborative anime broadcast project between Dai Nippon Printing and Shogakukan.
