TV Anime "Little Mouse's Red Vest" Premiering April 2026 — Kenjiro Tsuda and Mamiko Noto Voice All Characters on NHK E-Tele

The beloved picture book series "Nezumi-kun no Chokki" (Little Mouse's Red Vest), celebrating its 50th anniversary, will receive its first-ever TV anime adaptation, premiering on NHK E-Tele in April 2026. The main cast has also been announced.



Created by Yoshiwo Nakae (author) and Noriko Ueno (illustrator), the series has sold over 5 million copies in Japan since its debut in 1974. The heartwarming and humorous interactions between the little mouse in his red vest — knitted by his mother — and various animal friends have been cherished across generations.

The anime adaptation is produced entirely in full CG to faithfully capture the delicate, simple illustration style of the original picture books. Production is by Creadom8, with direction by Nobuyoshi Habara.
