Based on the manga by Tsuyoshi Takaki serialized in Shueisha's Jump SQ., BLACK TORCH follows Jiro Azuma, a teenager descended from ninjas with the mysterious ability to talk to animals. After fusing with the immortal mononoke Rago, Jiro joins a secret organization and plunges into a fierce battle between humans and supernatural spirits. The anime is produced by 100studio, directed by Kei Umabiki, with character designs by Go Suzuki.
The main cast includes Ryota Suzuki as Jiro Azuma, Yoji Ueda as Rago, and Ayaka Senbongi as Ichika Kishimojin.
The opening theme "FREEZE ME UP" is a new song written by SiM, and the ending theme "Groooovy" is a new song written by I Don't Like Mondays.
