TV Anime "The Cat and the Dragon" to Stream One Week Early on ABEMA Starting June 27

It has been announced that TV anime "The Cat and the Dragon" (Neko to Ryuu) will stream one week ahead of its terrestrial broadcast on ABEMA, making it the fastest web distribution.



Based on the light novel by Amala, originally published on "Syosetu ni Narou" and later released in print by Takarajimasha, the series follows a heartwarming fantasy about a fire-breathing dragon raised by magic-wielding cats, the cats themselves, and the humans whose lives they touch. The series has surpassed 1.4 million copies in cumulative sales and achieved the unprecedented feat of reaching No. 1 on the daily rankings as a short-form work. The anime adaptation will air in an omnibus format starting July 2026.

ABEMA will begin streaming the first episode on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10:30 PM. From Episode 2 onward, new episodes will air every Saturday at 9:30 PM on the "ABEMA Anime Channel" with free viewing. Additionally, each terrestrial broadcast episode will be available for free streaming one week later, every Saturday at 9:00 PM.



Terrestrial broadcasts begin on Saturday, July 4 on TOKYO MX (Saturdays at 9:00 PM), followed by BS Nittele, Yomiuri TV, AT-X, and Nagasaki Culture Broadcasting. Streaming will also be available on d Anime Store, ABEMA (early access), FOD, DMM TV, Hulu, U-NEXT, Prime Video, and other major platforms.

Animation production is handled by OLM. The director is O Jing, with series composition by Koji Hirota, character design by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurain, and music by Takahiro Obata. The cast includes Takehito Koyasu as the Cat Dragon, Kikuko Inoue as Mama Cat, Kazahana Izumi as Shirotae, Sho Hayami as Kurobane, Atsumi Tanezaki as Garry, Tomoka Anzai as Annerossa, and Junya Enoki as Stan.
