TV Anime Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga: Streaming Begins July 13 on J:COM STREAM Ahead of Summer 2026 Broadcast

The TV anime adaptation of Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga: Hinamiya Chouso Torikae Den (Though I Am an Inept Villainess), based on the popular novel series by Saki Nakamura (Ichijinsha Novels, illustrated by Yukikana), premieres in July 2026. The series has also been added to J:COM's summer 2026 anime lineup, with unlimited streaming on J:COM STREAM starting Monday, July 13.

Set in an imperial rear palace, the story follows a body-swap reversal drama between two opposite young ladies: Kou Reirin, the frail yet beloved maiden of the Kou clan, and Shu Keigetsu, the envious maiden of the Shu clan. After their bodies are switched, Reirin faces every adversity head-on with her fearless spirit and radiant optimism. The original novel series, a hugely popular Chinese-style court fantasy, has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation, and the comic adaptation by Ei Ohitsuji (ZERO-SUM Comics) has also been well received.
