Coming-of-age judo anime produced by Yomiuri TV and Kitty Films, adapted from Naoki Urasawas hit manga. Yawara Inokuma just wants to be an ordinary high-schooler, but her grandfather and judo master Jigoro pushes her toward the World Championships and the Olympics. With rivals on and off the mat - including her wealthy classmate Sayaka and reporter Kosaku Matsuda - the series became a social phenomenon and reshaped the image of female athletes in Japan.
