The first OVA installment produced after the conclusion of the TV anime adaptation of Takahashi Rumiko's 'Urusei Yatsura,' by Studio Pierrot. When the rabbit-eared caretaker Inaba appears and accidentally opens various doors leading to future worlds, Lum, Ataru, and friends scramble to escape one of the branching futures in this time-travel-flavored comedy. The OVA offers glimpses of the grown-up versions of Ataru and the gang that were never shown in the TV series, packed with clever touches that sparked the imagination of manga readers and fans. The high production quality by director Dezaki Satoshi and animator Shibunichi Setsuko earned great acclaim, positioning this as an important turning point leading to the subsequent theatrical film 'The Final Chapter.'
