Released by Tokuma Japan Communications and produced by Pony Canyon, it garnered attention for its outlandish premise in which demons from another realm swarm a modern high school and wage an all-out war over the student council presidency. The protagonist, delinquent high schooler Shutaro Jinjo, is supposed to lead an ordinary school life but finds himself dragged into a fated battle between demons and humans. This OVA commands a certain cult following, fully embracing the occult boom and school parody atmosphere that colored late-1980s subculture. The theme song 'MEDUSA,' sung by Yuri Sugimoto with arrangements by TAK Matsumoto (B'z) and Tetsurou Oda, draws attention from music fans as well.
