A literary OVA based on Keiko Takemiya's landmark masterpiece in shoujo manga history, 'Kaze to Ki no Uta' (The Poem of Wind and Trees). Directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, co-produced by Herald Enterprise and Shogakukan, and released by Pony Canyon. Set in the boarding school Lacomblade Academy in late 19th-century France, the work brings to screen the delicate and poignant love story between the beautiful boy Gilbert Cocteau, burdened by a complex past, and the sincere transfer student Serge Battour, of Romani heritage. A genuine literary anime OVA that elevated the original's taboo themes through aesthetic animation and Nobuaki Nakamura's elegant musical score, it stands among the most highly acclaimed screen adaptations of shoujo manga. Animation production was handled by Konami Industry, faithfully recreating the splendor of 19th-century European atmosphere.
