A TV special produced by Production I.G that serves as the culmination of the "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" series, broadcast in HD on SkyPerfecTV Perfect Choice in September 2006 and subsequently released on DVD and Blu-ray. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama with animation by Production I.G and music by Yoko Kanno, the story takes place in 2034 — after the events of the TV series — and follows former Public Security Section 9 officer Motoko Kusanagi and Batou as they pursue a wide-scale cyber-incident involving "the Puppeteer" and a mysterious epidemic known as "cybernetic sclerosis." Kanno's eclectic soundtrack, anchored by Origa with Heartsdales' theme song "Player" and featuring vocalists such as Ilaria Graziano and Gabriela Robin, blends electronica and ethnic music to deepen the world's near-future texture. ©Shirow Masamune-Production I.G／Kodansha・GITS Project
