A TV anime produced by Kinema citrus, based on the light novel "The Rising of the Shield Hero" by Aneko Yusagi (published by MF Books/KADOKAWA, character designs by Seira Minami). The story follows Naofumi Iwatani, a university student summoned to another world as the Shield Hero, who overcomes unjust persecution and betrayal, rising to become a true hero alongside his companions Raphtalia and Filo. Since its first season in 2019, the series has continued with Season 2 in 2022, Season 3 in 2023, and Season 4 in 2025, earning strong popularity both in Japan and internationally. Season 5 was announced at Anime Expo 2026 during the Crunchyroll Industry Panel and is set to air in 2027. Director Hitoshi Haga continues from Season 3, with Keigo Koyanagi handling series composition and Kevin Penkin, Alfredo Sirica, and Natalie Jeffreys composing the music. The striking monochrome teaser visual features the four Cardinal Heroes and the Hakuko siblings standing back to back, with a bold red logo specially designed for this season.
