A theatrical short animation, "Macross Frontier: Labyrinth of Time," produced by Satelight. Shoji Kawamori of "Macross Frontier" directs, writes, and storyboards the film, released in 2021. Years after the battles with the Vajra and the Galaxy fleet, Sheryl Nome, who exhausted her power singing at the decisive battle, remains asleep. Ranka Lee tours the galaxy in search of Alto, the key to awakening Sheryl. When Ranka's song resonates with Protoculture ruins, she and the members of S.M.S. head to investigate the ruins known as the "Well of Souls."
