A six-episode OVA produced by AIC and Oniro, released from May to November 1992 and directed by Kenichi Yatagai. Set roughly 80 years after the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross, it follows TV reporter Hibiki Kanzaki, who rescues Ishtar, a song priestess of the enemy Mardook forces. Touched by Earth culture, Ishtar begins to sing to the battlefield to stop the war, while idol singer Wendy Ryder performs at the Moon Festival — a story woven around song, the heart of the Macross series.
