The third season produced by Shaft. Based on the manga by Koji Kumeta serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, with over 8 million copies in circulation (as of 2018). A black comedy following teacher Nozomu Itoshiki, who sees everything negatively and constantly exclaims "I'm in despair!", and his eccentric students. Through interactions with ultra-positive Kafuka Fuura, obsessive Chiri Kitsu, stalker Matoi Tsunetsuki, and shut-in Kiri Komori, the series satirically critiques modern society.
