Pon no Michi

Set in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, this anime depicts the leisurely daily lives of high school girls who use a former mahjong parlor as their hangout spot. The protagonist Nashiko Jippensha and her friends spend their time at the parlor once run by her father, drinking tea, cooking, and occasionally playing mahjong. While mahjong serves as the theme, the show never becomes solely about matches; instead, its charm lies in the peaceful everyday scenes set against the beautiful scenery of Onomichi. The laid-back atmosphere is so relaxed that some episodes don't even feature mahjong at all. The OP theme is 'Pon Popopon' by Kana Nakata feat. Pon no Michi All Stars, and the ED theme is 'Good Luck Waker' by halca.
