A battle action anime based on the hit manga by Naoya Matsumoto. Set in Japan, a country with one of the highest kaiju occurrence rates in the world, the story follows Kafka Hibeno, who works as a kaiju cleanup crew member and dreams of joining the Japan Defense Force to fulfill a childhood promise made with his friend Mina Ashiro. After being parasitized by a mysterious small creature, Kafka gains the power to transform into a kaiju and becomes identified as 'Kaiju No. 8,' yet continues to fight to protect humanity. The OP theme is 'Abyss' by YUNGBLUD, and the ED theme is 'Nobody' by OneRepublic -- the unusual lineup of international artists handling both OP and ED generated considerable buzz.
