A theatrical anime produced to commemorate the birth of Shigeru Mizuki. Set in Showa-era Japan, this dark mystery begins when a young man named Mizuki, who works at a blood bank, visits the village of Nakurakura, which is ruled by the Ryuga clan. Together with Gegero, the father of Kitaro whom he meets in the village, he delves into the clan's darkness and the mysteries of supernatural phenomena. Crafted with a horror tone aimed at adult audiences, this work serves as a prequel to the 'GeGeGe no Kitaro' series, revealing the secrets behind Kitaro's birth. The ending features 'Karankoron no Uta -Kitaro Tanjo-,' with music composed by Kenji Kawai.
