Mononoke the Movie: The Umbrella

The first installment of a theatrical trilogy based on the TV anime 'Mononoke,' known for its one-of-a-kind visual aesthetic that fuses traditional Japanese paper textures with CG. Set in the Ooku (the shogun's inner chambers), the story follows Asa, a talented and beautiful new maid, and Kame, who seeks a place to belong, as they become entangled in a 'ritual' meant to make them conform to the group. The women's accumulated passions trigger supernatural disturbances night after night, and the Medicine Seller pursues the Mononoke to the heart of the Ooku — but the Exorcism Sword cannot be unsheathed unless the three aspects of 'Form,' 'Truth,' and 'Reason' are revealed. The theme song is 'Love Sick' by Aina The End, with music composed by Taku Iwasaki.
