An anime adaptation of Yuji Kaku's popular manga serialized on 'Shonen Jump+.' In the late Edo period, Gabimaru, once hailed as the strongest shinobi, is captured as a deserter and sentenced to death. However, he is offered a deal: if he can bring back the 'Elixir of Immortality' from a mysterious island rumored to be paradise, he will be pardoned. Driven by his desire to reunite with his beloved wife, he sets sail for the island alongside Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, a sword-testing executioner. Awaiting them are fellow death-row convicts also seeking the elixir, monstrous aberrations, and the hermits who rule the island. The series features stunning artwork depicting brutal battles and compelling human drama set in life-or-death extremes. The opening theme song is 'W●RK,' a collaboration between millennium parade and Sheena Ringo, which powerfully establishes the series' singular worldview. The ending theme song is 'Kamihitoe' by Uru, whose delicate vocals deeply resonate with the story's lingering afterglow.
