The story follows Megumin, the beloved Explosion mage from the main series, as its protagonist, depicting her life before she met Kazuma and the others. Megumin is a young girl of the Crimson Demon clan living in the Crimson Demon Village, and ever since witnessing an overwhelming power in her childhood, she has aspired to master the ultimate spell: Explosion Magic. Her days of training at the magic academy, her lively exchanges with childhood friend Yunyun, and the events that lead Megumin to devote everything to Explosion Magic are told with comedic flair. Retaining the signature 'KonoSuba' comedic sensibility that fans adore, the series reveals Megumin's untold past and the amusing daily life of the Crimson Demon clan. The opening theme is 'STAY FREE' by Machico, delivering the bright, energetic spirit the franchise is known for. The ending theme, 'JUMP IN' performed by Megumin (CV: Rie Takahashi) and Yunyun (CV: Aki Toyosaki), charmingly expresses the bond and adventurous spirit of the two girls.
