An anime based on the youth manga by Makoto Ojiro serialized in Big Comic Spirits, set in the city of Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture. The story begins when Maruta Nakami, a high school student plagued by insomnia, discovers a girl named Isaki Magari — who also can't sleep at night — in the school's abandoned observatory, and the two begin sharing a secret refuge meant only for them. Through the activities of the astronomy club, they encounter the beauty of the starry sky, and as they share the burden of their sleeplessness, the two gradually draw closer in a delicately rendered coming-of-age story. The opening theme, 'Itsu Aetara' sung by aiko, with its gentle melody, and the ending, 'Lapse' by Homecomings, with its tranquil sound, tenderly envelop a world brimming with the stillness of night and the beauty of the stars.
