Shortly after the Demon King is slain by a human hero, a tournament is held in the demon realm to choose the next Demon King, but a human hero named Helck unexpectedly enters as a contestant. As the Imperial Four Heavenly King Vermilio investigates the true intentions of Helck, who declares with a smile that he 'wants to destroy humanity,' she gradually uncovers the horrific truth behind what happened in the human world as she continues her journey alongside him. The series masterfully transitions from an initially comedic tournament setup into a weighty narrative involving dire conspiracies and the fate of the world. The sadness and resolve hidden behind that smile make this a truly piercing work. The first cour OP theme is 'It's My Soul' sung by Nanami Hiroki, and the ED theme is 'Statice' sung by saji.
