BLUE GIANT

A jazz coming-of-age film based on the manga of the same name by Ishizuka Shinichi. The story follows Miyamoto Dai, a young man from Tohoku who moves to Tokyo, forms a band with pianist Sawabe Yukinori and others, and sets his sights on performing at Japan's premier jazz club 'SO BLUE.' Directed by Tachikawa Yuzuru and produced by NUT, the music is entirely composed by Uehara Hiromi, who also performed the piano parts for the pianist character in the film. The work won the Excellence Award for Animation and the Best Music Award at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize.
