The Heike Story

A TV anime produced by Science SARU, an original anime work based on Hideo Furukawa's modern Japanese translation of "The Tale of the Heike" (Kawade Shobo Shinsha). In the late Heian period, as the Taira clan reaches the height of its glory, Taira no Shigemori, who can see the dead, meets a young biwa player named Biwa who can see the future, and she prophesies "You will all perish soon." The rise and fall of the Taira clan led by Taira no Kiyomori is depicted through Biwa's eyes. Aired from January to March 2022 (Fuji TV "+Ultra" block). Directed by Naoko Yamada, written by Reiko Yoshida. Cast includes Aoi Yuki as Biwa, Takahiro Sakurai as Shigemori, and Saori Hayami as Tokuko.
