High school student Ayumu Tanaka, a complete beginner at shogi, joins the shogi club after falling in love at first sight with his senior Urushi Yaotome. He resolves to confess only after beating her at shogi, but the gap in their skills makes victory seem distant. Meanwhile, Urushi is constantly flustered by Ayumu's overly straightforward words and actions.
