Cool Doji Danshi
Aired: 2022
A TV anime produced by Studio Pierrot, based on the manga by Kokone Nata serialized on Square Enix's "Gangan pixiv," originally posted as illustrations on Twitter starting May 2018 that accumulated over 2 million likes before being adapted into a manga serialization in June 2019. Cumulative circulation has exceeded 800,000 copies (as of 2022). This comedy depicts the daily lives of guys who look cool and handsome but are actually clumsy. Hayate Ichikura forgets his wallet, Shun Futami plays music on the train without earbuds, Takayuki Mima pushes up imaginary glasses despite wearing contacts, and Soma Shiki uses bendy straws upside down—their gap between cool appearance and endearing clumsiness warms the hearts of those around them. The series aired on TV Tokyo from October 2022 in a 2-cour format with 15-minute episodes, totaling 24 episodes. Main cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Hayate, Koki Uchiyama as Shun, Yuichiro Umehara as Takayuki, Shoya Chiba as Soma, and Makoto Furukawa as Motoharu. Directed by Hidetoshi Takahashi, music by Masato Nakayama. ©Kokone Nata / SQUARE ENIX, "Cool Doji Danshi" Production Committee
