The franchise has over 85 million copies in circulation (as of 2021, the 30th anniversary). Season 1 comprises 12 episodes (released September 30, 2021, Netflix worldwide exclusive). Having grown through countless fierce battles, martial artist Baki Hanma chooses Biscuit Oliva, known as "Mr. Unchained," as his sparring partner in preparation for his fated showdown with his father Yujiro Hanma, the strongest creature on Earth. Baki deliberately commits a crime to enter the world's most dangerous prison "Black Pentagon" in Arizona where Oliva is incarcerated. The season covers the "Practical Shadow Fighting" and "Prison Battle" arcs, culminating in an intense fight against Oliva.
