Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time is a theatrical anime film produced by Studio Khara. Serving as the grand finale of the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy, the film was directed by Hideaki Anno and released on March 8, 2021. Set after the Fourth Impact, Shinji Ikari, Asuka Shikinami Langley, and Rei Ayanami (tentative name) wander the devastated Earth until they find refuge in Village-3, one of the last remaining human settlements. Meanwhile, Misato Katsuragi leads WILLE's operation to restore the sealed pillars in the core-ified ruins of Paris. Shinji ultimately resolves to confront his father Gendo Ikari in a final battle to destroy all Evangelions and free humanity. With a runtime of 155 minutes, the voice cast includes Megumi Ogata, Megumi Hayashibara, Yuko Miyamura, Maaya Sakamoto, Kotono Mitsuishi, Akira Ishida, Fumihiko Tachiki, Yuriko Yamaguchi, Akio Otsuka, and Miyuki Sawashiro. The music was composed by Shiro Sagisu, with the theme song "One Last Kiss" performed by Hikaru Utada. The film earned 10.28 billion yen at the Japanese box office, making it the highest-grossing film in Japan in 2021.
