An anime film produced by Kyoto Animation, based on the novel by Kana Akatsuki published by KA Esuma Bunko (Kyoto Animation). The only work to receive the Grand Prize at the 5th Kyoto Animation Awards. Violet Evergarden, raised as a soldier during wartime without the opportunity to develop emotions, cannot understand the words "I love you from the bottom of my heart" left by her beloved superior officer Gilbert Bougainvillea. After the war, she works as an "Auto Memory Doll" letter-writer at CH Postal Company, growing through writing letters that convey people's feelings. When she receives a phone request from a sick boy named Yuris and a letter with an unknown addressee is found in the company warehouse, Violet pursues Gilbert's whereabouts after meeting his brother Colonel Dietfried. Released September 18, 2020, runtime 140 minutes. Grossed over 2.1 billion yen domestically. Starring Yui Ishikawa, Daisuke Namikawa, Takehito Koyasu, Hidenobu Kiuchi, Aya Endo, and Koki Uchiyama.
