An anime film produced by Bones, based on the short story by Seiko Tanabe, published in the June 1984 issue of "Monthly Kadokawa" and collected in a 1985 Kadokawa Shoten anthology. An anime adaptation of the beloved work previously made into a live-action film in 2003. Winner of the 44th Japan Academy Prize for Excellence in Animation. Tsuneo Suzukawa, a college student majoring in marine biology, works part-time while pursuing his dream of seeing a legendary fish in Mexico. One day, he saves Josee, a wheelchair-bound girl rolling down a hill. Her real name is Kumiko Yamamura, but she calls herself "Josee" after a Francoise Sagan character. Having used a wheelchair since childhood, she yearns for the outside world. When Josee's grandmother Chizu offers Tsuneo a job caring for Josee, they gradually grow close. However, a traffic accident tests their relationship. Released December 25, 2020, runtime 98 minutes. Grossed approximately 340 million yen domestically.
