A TV anime produced by J.C.STAFF, based on the light novel series by Chuugaku Akamatsu published under KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J imprint, with original illustrations by Kobuichi. The series has surpassed 9 million copies in cumulative sales (as of 2026). Set at Tokyo Butei High School, an institution that trains armed detectives known as "Butei" who use force to combat violent crimes, the story follows Kinji Tohyama, a student planning to quit being a Butei, whose life changes when he encounters Aria Holmes Kanzaki — a petite yet formidable S-rank Butei who literally drops from the sky. Together they form a partnership and take on various cases in this action-packed romantic comedy. The anime aired 12 episodes from April to July 2011 on TBS and other networks. Directed by Takashi Watanabe, with series composition by Hideki Shirane, character design by Kazunori Iwakura, music by Takumi Ozawa, and music production by Flying Dog. Main cast includes Rie Kugimiya as Aria Holmes Kanzaki, Junji Majima as Kinji Tohyama, Mikako Takahashi as Shirayuki Hotogi, Mariya Ise as Riko Mine, and Kaori Ishihara as Reki.
