A TV anime produced by Geno Studio, based on the manga by Satoru Noda (serialized in Shueisha's "Weekly Young Jump"). Set in Hokkaido after the Russo-Japanese War, former soldier Saichi Sugimoto, nicknamed "Immortal Sugimoto," teams up with Ainu girl Asirpa to search for a massive Ainu gold treasure using tattooed maps on escaped Abashiri Prison inmates as clues. The series gained popularity for its unique blend of gourmet, action, history, and survival elements. Aired for 12 episodes.
