Schwarzesmarken is a TV anime based on Hiroki Uchida's light novel published by Famitsu Bunko, aired from January 2016. A spinoff of the popular Muv-Luv game series, it is set in 1983 East Germany during a war against the extraterrestrial BETA. The story follows tactical surface fighter pilots caught between the alien threat and the machinations of the Stasi secret police. The series features a heavy narrative blending Cold War political intrigue with sci-fi action. Co-produced by ixtl and Satelight.
