Wake Up, Girls! is an original TV anime directed and conceived by Yutaka Yamamoto, aired from January 2014. Co-produced by Ordet and Tatsunoko Production, the series is set in post-earthquake Sendai, following seven girls from a struggling talent agency who form the idol group "Wake Up, Girls!" to challenge the top national idol group "I-1club." An ensemble drama depicting the realistic struggles and growth of regional idols, it also drew attention for its cross-media project linking with real-life concerts by its voice actress unit. The series launched simultaneously with a theatrical film. 12 episodes.
