Barakamon is a TV anime based on Satsuki Yoshino's manga serialized on Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Online, aired from July 2014. Produced by Kinema Citrus, this heartwarming comedy follows young calligrapher Seishuu Handa, who relocates to a rural island in the Goto Islands to cool off after punching a calligraphy elder. Through interactions with the island's children and quirky residents, he grows both as a person and calligrapher. His friendship with the spirited girl Naru Kotoishi anchors the story.
