A TV anime produced by Studio Deen, based on the manga "Hoshin Engi" by Ryu Fujisaki, serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump. Set in ancient China during the final years of the Yin Dynasty around the 11th century BC, the story follows Taikobo, a Taoist sage from Mount Kunlun, who is tasked to carry out the "Hoshin Project" — sealing away evil immortals and demons into the spirit world. To save the people from the tyranny of King Chu, manipulated by the enchantress Dakki, Taikobo gathers allies and uses his cunning strategies in battle. Directed by Junji Nishimura with character design by Masayuki Kojima and music by Ryo Sakai, the series aired 26 episodes on TV Tokyo from July 3 to December 25, 1999. ©Ryu Fujisaki/Shueisha, TV Tokyo, Studio Deen
