Mouryou no Hako

"Mouryou no Hako" is a TV anime based on the mystery and supernatural novel by Natsuhiko Kyogoku, produced by Madhouse. It aired from October to December 2008 on Nippon Television for 13 episodes. The second installment of the Hyakkiyakou series, adapting the 49th Mystery Writers of Japan Award-winning novel. Set in 1950s Japan, the story weaves together a series of dismemberment murders, a mysterious box-worshipping cult, and the distorted love between girls. Exorcist Akihiko Chuzenji (Kyogokudo) unravels the true nature of the supernatural entity "Mouryou" through his spiritual exorcisms.
