Fullmetal Alchemist
Aired: 2003 - 2004
A dark fantasy anime produced by Bones, based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan. After a failed attempt to resurrect their deceased mother through alchemy, Edward Elric loses his left leg and right arm while his younger brother Alphonse loses his entire body. Fitted with automail prosthetics, Edward becomes the youngest State Alchemist, earning the title "Fullmetal Alchemist," and embarks on a journey to find the Philosopher's Stone to restore his brother's body. Along the way, they uncover dark conspiracies involving the state and the artificial beings known as Homunculi. Diverging from the still-ongoing manga into an anime-original storyline, the series reached its own unique conclusion across 51 episodes.
