Requiem from the Darkness

A horror anime produced by TMS Entertainment, based on the period novel Kosetsu Hyaku Monogatari by Natsuhiko Kyogoku published by Chuokoron-Shinsha. Set in the Edo period, aspiring writer Momosuke Yamaoka collects ghost stories for his hundred tales anthology when he encounters a trio—Mataichi the traveling priest, Ogin, and Nagamimi. They are shadow operatives who punish evildoers through elaborate schemes disguised as supernatural phenomena. As Momosuke becomes entangled in their work, the boundary between human wickedness and yokai tales blurs. The 13-episode series creates an eerie atmosphere through distinctive color design and distorted art.
