Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG

Aired: 2004 - 2005

A sci-fi anime produced by Production I.G, the second installment of the "Stand Alone Complex" series based on Masamune Shirow's manga Ghost in the Shell. After being disbanded in the previous series, Public Security Section 9 is reassembled under Major Motoko Kusanagi to tackle new threats. The story follows the team as they confront the refugee crisis, nuclear weapon conspiracies, and a terrorist group calling themselves the "Individual Eleven." Centered on the machinations of Cabinet Intelligence agent Gouda and the confrontation with charismatic refugee leader Kuze, the 26-episode series explores layered themes of state versus individual and justice versus deception in a cyberpunk future.
